Sleepy. But excited!
Oct. 5th, 2022 04:18 pmI had to get up at 4 am today for an appointment at the hospital - nothing serious, my doctors just wanted to see how my top surgery scars have been healing. So. I'm very tired today. But the appointment went well! My scars are looking good, and my next appointment is in four weeks, on November 2nd. Still early in the morning, but not as early. I'll be able to sleep for at least two hours longer than today. Yay!
Still, from a writing perspective, I'm a bit worried about it being so early in November ... I hope it won't kill my NaNo momentum, and that I'll still be able to get my daily minimum of words done. Time-wise, that shouldn't be a problem, but I know my brain. "No writing today. I must recover from Meeting Other Humans" sounds like something it might say. Maybe I'll just write twice the words on November 1st, just to be safe. I might still lose steam if I can't write on day two, but at least not an entire day's worth of words.
Speaking of losing steam, though ... There's also November 17th. There's 1899! No way am I going to be able to think about anything else afterwards. I've been waiting for two years!!
Aaaaa, I've just been getting more and more excited about this show. Not just because of the release date growing closer (although that's part of it, of course), but also because of the spoiler-free reviews I've read from people who saw the first two episodes at the Toronto International Film Festival. Several of them called it a worthy successor to Dark so far. And. I mean. While that's exactly what everyone's been hoping for ... that is one high bar, and hearing that it apparently really does live up to the expectations ... man!!! I can't wait!
A while ago I had a conversation with my mother, about how I miss looking forward to new media the way I did as a kid, where the thing I wanted to watch would be the only thing I could think about for months before I ever even got to see it. Waiting for 1899 is this exciting, as was waiting for seasons 2 and 3 of Dark - and those lived up to really high expectations, too. These writers are just amazing. I have no doubt at all that the reviewers are right.
Luckily, my NaNo goal this year is only at least one finished fic, not a fixed word count. So, if I hurry, I may get it done before the 17th. If not, my brain is probably just going to turn it into an 1899 fic, whether I want it to or not :'D
